Sau đó bạn chép tệp vừa tải về vào thư mục mà bạn đã cài Grammar 2.5.5
Chạy tệp tin đó => nếu hệ điều hành hỏi bạn muốn chép đè lên tệp cũ không thì bạn cho phép chép đè tất cả.

Hướng dẫn sửa một số rắc rối thường gặp:
• Nếu chương trình không thể hiện được Font tiếng Việt hoặc gặp lỗi 380 thì bạn hãy Add Font x1 bằng cách vào => start, settings, control panel, Fonts, File, Install new Font, Select All, OK, OK.
• Nếu gặp lỗi runtime error 2147220986 (80040206) thì cài lại quicktime player 6.0 hoặc khởi động lại máy!
• Trường hợp sau khi đã add font mà chương trình vẫn bị lỗi font thì bạn vào control panel, region and language option, chọn tiếng Anh hết các mục.
• Khi GRAMMAR setup nó sẽ cập nhật một số File thư viện vào hệ thống. Vì vậy phải cho máy vài chục giây nghỉ ngơi để nó cập nhật những File này. Một số người ngay sau khi vừa cài đặt đã vội kích hoạt ngay Biểu tượng Grammar ở nền Desktop. Hậu quả là gây ra lỗi.
• Khi chạy GRAMMAR setup nó cũng sẽ bật một trình setup khác. Khi đó hãy chọn Next để tạo trình đọc cho Grammar. Nhiều người vội bỏ qua khâu này hoặc nhấn Cancel! Hậu quả là gây ra lỗi.
• Ngoài ra, một số máy từng bị virus quấy nhiễu tan nát, các File hệ thống của windows bị hỏng, không còn tồn tại, cũng là nguyên nhân gây lỗi cho Grammar.
• Khi chạy chương trình Grammar lần đầu tiên ở nền desktop, nó sẽ tự động kiểm tra những gì bị bỏ sót và add font X1. Vì thế bạn chỉ cần đợi 5 giây để nó tự chỉnh sửa.
• Mẹo:
• Khi gặp lỗi, bạn hãy vào thư mục chứa Grammar (thường là C:Grammar) và xóa File tên là YES1. Khi không thấy File này, Grammar sẽ tự động rà soát và sửa lỗi. Sửa xong, nó sẽ tạo file YES1 để lần sau không sửa nữa.

Hướng dẫn chung:

• Chương trình chạy tốt trên máy cài windows XP (ngoại trừ sp3) khi bạn tuân thủ đúng chỉ dẫn cài đặt.
• Một số người thường quên chạy file S3 hoặc quên add các font trong thư mục gốc khi đó sẽ gặp lỗi 55.
• Nếu chương trình không thể hiện được Font tiếng Việt hoặc gặp lỗi 380 thì bạn hãy Add các Font trong thư mục chứa chương trình.
• Trường hợp sau khi đã add font mà chương trình vẫn bị lỗi font thì bạn vào control panel, region and language option, chọn tiếng Anh hết các mục.
• Hiện tại Grammar chưa chạy được trên vista.
• Bất cứ lúc nào cần xem hướng dẫn cách sử dụng cho từng phần, bạn hãy nhấn phím F2.
• Có 3 cách tra từ điển:
- Nhấn chuột trái vào từ Anh. Khi nhấp chuột phải, bạn sẽ nghe cách đọc từ có ed, s, es, ing…
- Nhấn ctrl để tra tự điển có phiên âm tiếng Việt.
- Tra từ mới thì chỉ cần gõ từ cần tra bất cứ lúc nào mà không cần phải mở tự điển. Bạn sẽ được cung cấp một quyển tự điển hơn 386000 mục từ.
• Muốn tắt bảng tra từ bạn chỉ cần nhấn chuột phải.
• Để chỉnh độ lớn của chữ, nhấn giữ phím Ctrl và xoay bánh xe trên con chuột.
• Mở mục CÀI ĐẶT để chọn giọng, tốc độ đọc, tốc độ chương trình (tốc độ di chuyển của các đối tượng), tắt/mở chế độ hướng dẫn.
• Nhấn ESC để thoát trong bất cứ tình huống nào.
Có rất nhiều cách học chương trình này, tùy theo mục đích của mỗi người. Tuy nhiên, để việc học hiệu quả bạn có thể theo các bước sau đây:

Bước 1: Chọn từ mới– Chọn mục BÀI ĐỌC.
– Chọn bài đọc đầu tiên.
Tất nhiên bài đọc có những từ vựng mà bạn chưa biết.
Chương trình này cho phép bạn:
• Chọn từ vựng chưa biết: tô đậm từ vựng và nhấn phím Enter.
• Tra từ: Nhấn chuột trái 1 lần.
• Dịch từng câu: Nhấn chuột trái 2 lần.
• Đọc lại 1 từ hoặc 1 câu: Nhấn chuột phải 1 lần.
• Vào phần xếp từ: Nhấn F6.
• Nghe từng câu hoặc toàn bài: Nhấn F9.
Trong mỗi bài đọc, bạn có thể nhấn Ctrl tra từ; nhấn phím blank xem câu dịch Việt (như trong Grammar 1.2).

Bước 2: Ôn từ vựng.– Chọn mục TỪ VỰNG CỦA BẠN.
Mục này sẽ thu lượm tất cả những từ bạn chọn (bằng cách tô đậm từ và nhấn Enter) trong quá trình học mục BÀI ĐỌC, LUYỆN NÓI, PHÂN TÍCH CÂU. Những từ bạn chọn đầu tiên sẽ được xếp ở trên.
Vào cuối tuần, bạn nên mở mục này. Hãy nhấn vào bánh xe trên chuột để làm cho màn hình trôi. Từ từ di chuyển chuột xuống để tăng tốc độ. Sau đó nhìn và đoán từ vựng. Tất nhiên bạn có thể nhấp chuột tra từ. Nhấp đúp chuột để xem câu chứa từ vựng. Bạn có thể tra từ trong câu Anh bằng cách nhấp chuột trái 2 lần vào từ cần tra.
Bằng cách này, bạn sẽ học từ vựng bất chấp ngoại cảnh ồn ào và học từ vựng theo sự gợi nhớ của từng câu trong bài đọc.

Bước 3: Học Văn Phạm.
– Sau khi đã học khoảng 1000 từ bạn có thể chọn phần VĂN PHẠM.
– Nên học văn phạm theo thứ tự.
– Nhấn chuột để xem nội dung một mục văn phạm.
– Có thể nhấn vào mục màu nâu để xem lời giới thiệu.
Muốn làm bài tập của 1 mục văn phạm thì:
+ Nhấn Chuột phải vào mục văn phạm có dấu chấm ở đầu mục để chọn hoặc bỏ chọn. (Có thể chọn nhiều mục để trộn các bài tập của các mục.)
+ Nhấn Enter để làm các bài tập vừa chọn.
+ Nhấn Esc để hủy bỏ tất cả lệnh chọn.

Bước 4: Tập dịch câu. (Nếu bạn đã biết văn phạm)– Chọn mục Bài đọc.
– Chọn bài đọc cũ. Tập dịch từng câu trong bài.
– Nhấn đúp chuột để xem câu dịch.
– Đọc và dịch nhiều lần cho đến khi thuần thục.

Bước 5: Học thêm từ vựng.
Sau khi đã học phần văn phạm bạn cần học thêm các bài đọc còn lại trong phần BÀI ĐỌC để gia tăng mức từ vựng.

Bước 6: Phân tích câu. Mục đích của phần này là giúp học viên nắm thật vững từng từ và vị trí của nó trong câu. Qua đó, họ có thể TỰ VIẾT chính xác một câu với sự tự tin vững chắc.
Cách sử dụng của mục này giống mục Bài Đọc. Tuy nhiên bạn có thể nhấp chuột phải vào từng từ trong bài đọc. Một bảng biểu phân tích sẽ hiện ra, kèm theo những mục văn phạm cần thiết cho bài phân tích.

– Nhấn F6.
Bạn sẽ thấy 1 câu Anh bị đảo lộn trật tự từ.
Bạn chỉ cần nhấp chuột phải 1 lần vào từ Anh cần di chuyển.
Nhấn Enter để xem đáp án hoặc để chuyển sang câu mới.
Sau khi thực tập nhiều lần, bạn có thể nhấn F6 lần nữa để bỏ câu Anh và tự nghĩ câu Anh của câu Việt. Đây cũng là cách luyện nói rất hữu hiệu.

Bước 8: Luyện nghe.
– Chọn mục Bài đọc.
– Luyện đọc hiểu từng câu với tốc độ thật nhanh.
– Tốc độ đọc hiểu phải gấp hai lần tốc độ đọc trong máy.
Phần 1: – Chọn bài đọc.• Nhấn F9 (Chương trình bắt đầu đọc từ vị trí con trỏ).
• Nhấn mũi tên trái: Nghe lại nhiều lần câu đang nghe.
• Nhấn mũi tên lên: Nghe câu trên.
• Nhấn mũi tên phải hoặc xuống: Nghe câu kế tiếp.
• Nhấn phím Esc: Thoát khỏi phần nghe.
– Nghe và nhìn bài đọc.
– Nghe và không nhìn bài đọc.
Phần 2: – Chọn mục LUYỆN NGHE.• Nghe và chọn câu đúng.
• Nhấn chuột trái để tra tự điển.
• Nhấn Next để sang câu mới.
Mẹo: Nếu bạn muốn nghe âm thanh to và rõ thì cắm headphone vào loa chứ đừng cắm thẳng vào thùng máy. Thị trường hiện có bán lọai loa nhỏ có lỗ cắm headphone.

Bước 9: Luyện nghe và viết. (Để nhớ mặt chữ).– Phần này giúp bạn nâng cao khả năng nghe và tự viết lại để nhớ mặt chữ. Màn hình sẽ xuất hiện 1 khung trống để bạn vừa nghe vừa gõ lại 1 câu Anh. Phía trên là câu tiếng Việt tương ứng.
Thao tác:
- Chọn bất kỳ bài nào trong mục BÀI ĐỌC. (Nên chọn các bài có âm thanh thực ở cuối.)
- Nhấn chuột phải để mở phần NGHE–VIẾT.
- Nhấn F2 để xem hướng dẫn cách sử dụng.
- Nhấn mũi tên trái: Nghe lại.
- Nhấn mũi tên phải: Máy sẽ cho biết chữ đúng phải gõ.
- Nhấn mũi tên lên: Lùi lại 1 câu.
- Nhấn mũi tên xuống: Chuyển sang câu kế.
- Nhấn phím ESC: Thoát.
Nếu gõ sai, nền khung sẽ chuyển sang màu đỏ để báo hiệu. Khi đó máy sẽ tự động đọc lại câu văn. Vì vậy bạn có thể nhấn 1 phím bất kỳ (giả bộ gõ sai) để máy đọc lại mà không cần phải nhấn Mũi tên trái.
Chú ý: Phần này bạn sẽ không được gõ từ để tra từ điển. Tuy nhiên, bạn có thể click chuột vào từ Anh để tra.

Bước 10: Làm bài khảo sát. (Để thi lấy bằng cấp).– Sau khi đạt mức từ vựng khoảng 3000 từ, bạn có thể lần lượt làm bài tập của các mục:
• ARTICLES (Luyện tập về Mạo từ)
• CONDITIONAL (Luyện câu điều kiện)
• TENSE (Luyện tập về thì)
• PREPOSITION & IDIOMS (Giới từ và thành ngữ)
• PRELIMINARY TESTS A (Luyện thi bằng A)
• PRELIMINARY TESTS B (Luyện thi bằng B)
• TOEFL TESTS (Luyện thi bằng C)
• TOEFL VOCABULARY (Luyện từ vựng C)
• B VOCABULARY (Luyện từ vựng B)
Phần này có nhiều dạng bài tập. Mỗi bài đều cho phép tra từ, dịch câu đề bài, giảng từng vị trí trong mỗi ô trống trong bài tập điền từ hoặc từng câu trong bài trắc nghiệm a, b, c, d.
Các bài tập trong 9 mục này bao gồm 5 dạng:
1) Bài tập điền từ:
- Gồm 1 câu đề bài có những ô trống để bạn gõ phím điền từ thích hợp vào đó.
- Nhấn Enter để xem đáp án. Nếu làm sai thì màu của những chữ trong ô trống sẽ thay đổi thành màu đỏ.
- Nhấn chuột phải vào từng ô trống để xem phần giảng. Cuối mỗi phần giảng sẽ có những mục văn phạm cần xem. Hãy nhấn chuột trái vào chúng để mở.
- Nhấn chuột trái vào từng ô trống để xem đáp án đúng của chúng.
- Nhấn chuột phải vào câu đề bài để xem câu dịch sang tiếng Việt.
- Vận dụng 3 cách tra từ điển như đã nêu.
2) Bài tập điền từ có chỉ thị:
- Gồm 1 câu đề bài có những ô trống để bạn gõ phím điền từ thích hợp vào đó theo chỉ thị. Phần chỉ thị sẽ xuất hiện ở dòng phía trên khung bài tập mỗi khi bạn di chuyển con trỏ.
- Còn lại, cách sử dụng giống như kiểu bài tập điền từ (1).
3) Bài tập trắc nghiệm a,b,c,d:
- Gồm 1 câu đề bài và 4 câu trắc nghiệm để bạn chọn.
- Nhấn chuột trái để chọn câu đúng. Nếu làm sai thì màu của câu chọn sẽ chìm xuống thành màu xanh nhạt. Câu đúng sẽ hiện màu xanh đậm.
- Nhấn chuột phải vào từng câu a,b,c,d để xem phần giảng. Cuối mỗi phần giảng sẽ có những mục văn phạm cần xem. Hãy nhấn chuột trái vào chúng để mở.
- Nhấn chuột phải vào câu đề bài để xem câu dịch sang tiếng Việt.
- Vận dụng 3 cách tra từ điển như đã nêu.
4) Bài tập tìm chỗ sai:
- Gồm 1 câu đề bài và 4 chỗ sai để bạn chọn.
- Nhấn chuột trái để chọn chỗ sai. Nếu chọn đúng thì màu của chỗ chọn sẽ thành màu đỏ.
- Nhấn chuột phải vào từng chỗ để xem phần giảng. Cuối mỗi phần giảng sẽ có những mục văn phạm cần xem. Hãy nhấn chuột trái vào chúng để mở.
- Nhấn chuột phải vào câu đề bài để xem câu dịch sang tiếng Việt.
- Vận dụng 3 cách tra từ điển như đã nêu.
5) Bài tập xếp từ: xem bước 6.
Hãy nhấn phím F2 mỗi khi cần xem cách sử dụng chương trình.

Bước 11: Luyện nói
Đây là phần đàm thoại bao gồm hơn 2000 bài đàm thoại với rất nhiều chủ đề thiết thực. Phần này giúp đỡ người cần học nói cấp tốc và cả học nói nghiêm túc theo bài bản. Cách sử dụng cũng giống như mục bài đọc. Tuy nhiên bạn cần chú ý sử dụng chức năng nhấn F6 (xếp từ) và chức năng bỏ phần từ gợi ý để tạo phản xạ trong đàm thoại.

Cách 2. be khoa Kaspersky bằng tay không:

Bạn vào Start ==> Run ==> Gõ: regedit ==> Nhấn Enter.

Xuất hiện giao diện Registry Editor ==> Bạn nhấn tổ hợp phím Ctrl+ F (hoặc bấm vào menu: Edit ==> Find...) rồi gõ dòng chữ: ProductStatus vào ô tìm kiếm rối bấm Find Next.

Nhấp đôi chuột vào chữ ProductStatus vừa tìm thấy, đổi chữ Release thành chữ Beta.

Xong xuôi, thực hiện tiếp như bước 2 và bước 3, 4 ở trên.

Hoặc bạn có thể tìm chữ ProductStatus theo đường dẫn:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP9\environment\ nhìn qua cánh phải tìm chữ ProductStatus và thực hiện như trên.

Lưu ý:

Đổi Release sang Beta không làm thay đổi các tính năng đầy đủ của chương trình. Khi chuyển qua Beta thì Kaspersky Lab sẽ cung cấp key miễn phí cho người dùng để test sản phẩm của họ.

Còn bản Release thì yêu cầu phải mua key bản quyền hợp lệ thì mới sử dụng được.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:

* Pipe wrench

* Plumber's putty or caulk

Disconnect the power to the junction box or outlet receptacle that will provide the garbage disposal's power by flipping the circuit breaker off or removing the fuse.

Use a pipe wrench or Channel Lock pliers to loosen the connections on the P-trap from the sink drain pipe and horizontal pipe. Allow the water from the trap to drain into the bucket. Finish loosening the nuts and remove the P-trap.

Unscrew the large nut that holds the drain flange to the sink and remove the flange. Clean any old plumber's putty or caulk from around the drain hole.

Lay a 1/4-inch bead of caulk or plumber's putty around the drain hole and install the InSinkErator flange from the top of the sink. Place the InSinkErator fiber gasket, backup ring, mounting ring and snap ring onto the bottom of the flange. Tighten the three mounting screws to secure the flange to the sink.

Remove the bottom panel from the garbage disposal with a screwdriver to access the wiring. Twist the white wire from the power cord and the white wire from the disposal together using the wire nuts provided with the installation kit. Repeat the procedure with the black wires and the ground wires (bare copper).

Line up the mounting points on the disposer with those on the flange assembly and turn the disposer until the mounts are locked into place. Connect the discharge tube provided with the mounting kit to the disposer outlet with the two screws. Attach the P-trap to the discharge tube and tighten the connectors.

Tighten the mounting bolts at the flange attachment with the Jam-Buster wrench provided with the installation kit. Restore power to the circuit box or outlet. Turn on the water faucet and the garbage disposal unit and check that the unit operates properly.

I was recently asked to install an In-Sink-Erator food waste disposer in a new house. Years ago when I worked in resort maintenance I had replaced several disposers. Replacing an In-Sink-Erator disposer is pretty easy; installing a new one is more work because the mounting bracket needs to be installed and the drain pipes need to be figured out.

In-Sink-Erator seems to have a lock on the market for garbage disposals. ISE is the only brand I've replaced or installed, and I see the brand everywhere. The units I've replaced have all been in ski resort condos, and skiers are not known for being gentle on rental properties, so it's no surprise that some ISE disposers conk out after two decades.

Note that these appliances do not come with a power cord. For a replacement, the cord is simply transferred. For a new disposer, you can buy a cord specifically for ISE disposers, or make your own from a male plug and flexible cable of appropriate size.

The plumbing before the disposer was installed. The horizontal connection is quite high up and will need to be lowered.

A basic ½HP In-Sink-Erator waste disposer, about $65 at Home Depot.

I removed the dishwasher drain line.

I removed the drain pipes between the sink baskets and the P-trap. This will all need to be re-built after the disposer is installed.

This tool is a basket wrench. It's used to hold the sink basket in place while the big locking nut (below the sink) is turned.

I placed the basket wrench in the drain opening...

...while I grabbed the basket nut with a pair of 18" Channel-Lock pliers. On many older houses it is impossible to remove this big nut, so it needs to be broken or cut off.

The basket was removed from the sink opening.

I removed the old plumber's putty from the hole and cleaned the rim (with Windex) so the silicone would stick.

I removed the mounting bracket from the disposer. It's only held loosely while in the package.

There are 3 screws (actually more like threaded rods) that hold the bracket together. These screws were backed out to gain access to the snap ring.

The snap ring was pried off with a twist of a screwdriver.

Then I took the bracket apart.

I applied a heavy bead of clear silicone, in spite of In-Sink-Erator's instructions to use plumber's putty. Silicone is an excellent adhesive and will probably bond the bracket to the sink even if the screws come loose.

I made three laps around the hole with the silicone, just to be sure I had complete coverage. It's easier to remove the excess than to go back later and fix a leak caused by insufficient caulk.

I placed the top flange in the hole.

This is a bit awkward to do with one person, and it's even more difficult to photograph.
I placed the fiber washer and triangular-shaped backing ring on the stem of the top piece, then I slipped the mounting ring (which has the three screws) up there and installed the snap ring. That was kinda tricky to do by myself. The instructions say to place a heavy weight in the sink to hold the flange from moving, but that would smear the silicone making it much more difficult to remove later. AFTER I did this, I read in the instructions that placing a couple of wide rubber bands around the stem will prevent the parts from falling off. D'oh!

I tightened the screws that clamp the assembly together.

This is a good point to take a break, as the silicone will start to harden and reduce the risk of messing up the seal (by moving the bracket slightly) when the appliance is attached to the bracket.

I used a hammer and a screwdriver to remove this knock-out plug.

Don't leave this chunk of metal inside the disposer or it'll make an awful racket.

The next step was to install the dishwasher drain hose on the disposer inlet, but the drain hose had already been cut to the smallest size, for a 5/8" O.D. tube. I had purchased a connection adapter rubber boot, just in case, but the inlet to this boot is soft rubber. The hose has to clamp onto something rigid, so I cut a short length of ½" copper pipe, which has an outside diameter of about 5/8".
I attached the dishwasher drain hose to the copper pipe, and the pipe was attached to the adapter boot by a spring clamp. The boot was mounted to the disposer by an automotive-type hose clamp.

Electrical Connections:

It's important to note that the usual method of controlling a waste disposer is by plugging the appliance into a switched outlet that is installed beneath the sink.

No Switched Outlet?

Disposers do not have an on/off switch, so if there's not already a switched outlet below your sink, you'll need to have that installed. In older houses I have seen this approach:

* Run a cable to the cabinet below the sink.
* Install a metal surface-mount box just inside the cabinet door for the switch.
* Connect the power cord to the switch.
* Note that armored cable (which has a flexible metal sheath) or flexible conduit may be required.

This is basic electrical work, if the house has a basement or crawl space. Without access from below, getting power to the space under the sink can be challenging. The proper approach is to fish a cable downward from one of the outlets over the counter, and install an "old work" box. This can be a complex job that requires some specialty tools and skills. For some people the easiest solution is to have an electrician install the switched outlet.

The disposer does not come with a power cord, so I bought one made by In-Sink-Erator. A cord could be made just as well, as long as everything is rated for the proper current level. The ISE cord uses 16-3 wire, so I would use at least that size, probably bigger (such as 14 or 12 gauge wire) and a male plug rated at 15 amps.

While it's tempting to use plain NM-B building cable (which is meant to be hidden inside walls), the proper cable is something rated for extension cord use, at the very least. Most hardware stores and home centers carry a wide variety of flexible-wrapped 3-conductor cables rated for applications that are exposed to occasional movement. Some building codes may require flexible conduit or armored cable for this type of exposed wiring.
I removed the access cover and installed the cable clamp provided with the cord. There is a black wire and a white wire inside the cover.

I threaded the power cord through the cable clamp and tightened the screws.

I connected the green ground wire to the ground screw and connected the hot and neutral lines.

How The Disposer Connects To The Mounting Bracket:

ISE disposers use a clever mounting technique. When an old ISE disposer is being replaced with a new unit, the old mounting bracket can remain attached to the sink.
The lower mounting ring (which is part of the disposer) has 3 tabs that grab the mounting bracket.

* Arrow 1 points to the flange.
* 2 is the tab that grabs onto the flange.
* 3 is the "ear" that is used to rotate the lower ring.

If a disposer needs to be removed, simply tapping on the ear with a hammer will quite easily loosen the lower mounting ring.

I attached the disposer to the mounting bracket. This is kinda tricky because it's difficult to get all 3 tabs to catch on the ramps while simultaneously holding the disposer up with one hand.

Having a helper makes this easier.

Before tightening, the disposer may need to be rotated so the drain opening points toward the drain pipe.
I tightened the locking ring with the little wrench provided with the disposer. (The wrench is for turning the shaft manually in case the disposer becomes jammed during use.)

Plumbing Connections:
I connected a 12" long tail piece (1½" diameter, like all kitchen drain pipes) to the outlet of the disposer. ISE provides a special black plastic gasket that fits into the end of the T-shaped tail piece.

Note how the T-connector junction piece (between the two arrows) is much lower than the tailpiece below the left sink basin. I had to buy a longer tailpiece for the left basin, and I needed an extension tube to connect the tee to the trap.

Originally there was a dishwasher tee fitting below the main tee fitting, but I removed that.

Normally a dishwasher is drained into the disposal. I guess the reason is that any food waste in the dishwasher can be ground up later on.
Note how the tail piece works: The pipe has a T-shaped flange, and a soft plastic gasket is placed between the flange and the bottom of the sink basket. The metal nut (which comes with the sink basket) clamps the assembly together. Plastic nuts also work here, but I prefer metal.

The trap was the last piece of drain that I installed.

After the silicone had dried, I cut it away with a sharp knife. It's best to wait a full day before doing this, because the silicone in the middle of the bead can still be soft even though the outside is hard.

This is the biggest drawback to using silicone under the sink flange instead of the usual plumber's putty. Removing excess putty is easier, but putty leaks too easily. I've never had a siliconed sink connection leak. Breaking such a connection apart isn't so easy, however, but that should never be necessary.

If the rubber splash guard ever gets damaged (I've seen that happen) it can easily be replaced by removing the disposer from the mounting bracket, snapping a new splash guard in place, and re-installing the disposer. Replacing a worn rubber guard is a good idea when selling your house because it makes the unit look like new, at least from above.

What Evil Lurks In The Heart Of A Food Waste Disposer?

If you've ever wanted to know how a garbage disposal works, don't go sticking your hand inside one to find out. Look at this picture instead:
The primary components in a disposer are the hammers (arrow 1) and the slots in the stationary body (arrow 2). All of the residential disposers I've seen have two hammers.

When the power is applied, the base rotates and the food particles are thrust (by centrifugal force) towards the edge. When a piece of food gets stuck in a hole, it stops briefly and then gets whacked by a hammer. Chunks small enough to fit through a hole are washed downstream.

If there is nothing in the disposer, the hammers don't flail around, and the unit makes very little noise.

Disposal Problems:

I've seen a few disposal problems over the years:

Jammed shaft: ISE supplies a small Allen wrench (they call it a "wrenchette") to rotate the motor shaft if the unit becomes jammed. It's pretty easy to jam up a disposer by being too aggressive with the waste. Tough materials like the shells from shrimp will not get ground up, and too much of this can jam the disposer. Getting a piece of broken glass in the disposer is another common cause of jamming.

Overload: If an ISE disposer won't run, first make sure the shaft is free to spin (using the wrenchette) and try resetting the circuit breaker on the bottom. A small red button will pop out if the motor jams and becomes overloaded. Leaving the power applied to a stalled electric motor WILL overload it.

Plugged Disposer: Years ago I lived in an apartment and I put a lot of onion skins in the disposer. They mostly didn't go down. I had to reach into the disposer (unplug the darned thing when you do this, don't be foolish) and pick out a pile of wet onion skins. Then I removed the sink trap and picked out a pile of slightly-shredded onion skins.

Mildew Smell: In that same apartment, the disposer had a nasty mildew smell. I tried the usual remedy... baking soda... but that did nothing. I filled the unit with ice cubes and ground them up, but still no improvement. I looked inside with a flashlight and I determined that there was fungal growth on the top surfaces of the chamber, which doesn't get a lot of scraping from normal use. I didn't own a lot of tools then, so I had no way of applying chlorine bleach inside the disposer and make it spray upwards. So I filled the unit with ice cubes, and when I turned it on I poured some full-strength bleach inside, hoping it would get splashed onto the "ceiling" of the chamber. It didn't help much. In hindsight, a better approach would be to dip some sort of bottle brush in bleach and scrub the insides. Failing that, removing the unit would allow you to reach the insides much easier. I solved the problem by complaining to the apartment management, and after a few days they replaced the disposer.

Maintenance: Ice cubes are the usual way of cleaning a disposer, just don't pack it too full. ISE recommends grinding hard material such as small bones and fruit pits.
